Replacement Window Trim

Window capping is used to cover the exterior of the replacement window. The trim is used to protect the outside wood around the window frames. There are a wide variety of capping colors which is essentially fascia or aluminum trim. Most of the time the outside trim will match the vinyl replacement windows.

The inside trim is needed if you have an installation that requires replacement of interior stops and trim. These are usually called blind stops that hold the window in place. Sometimes if they are removed to install the new window it is necessary to replace them. These are called quarter round and many times the old ones cannot be salvaged so new ones will be replaced.

It also might be required to install new casing around the window units. Usually patio doors will need new interior casing. Also metal windows that are replaced with new vinyl window will often times need new casing.

These window units will require new trim around the windows because of the old windows have old wood that cannot be retained. The good news is that the new replacement windows will be maintenance free and improve the efficiency of the home.
